I am 38 years old and I’ve lived in a house in Wilmette with four friends and caring supporters for almost eight years. It’s like having a second family and we eat together, do chores, watch movies and sports on TV and go out to eat, shopping, bowling, movies and plays.
I love volunteering at the food pantry, where I’ve helped for over 15 years. I worked at Marshall’s for 11 years but had to retire because of health issues.
I also work out and go to physical therapy four days a week. My friends think I’m funny, kind and a good team player.
"I love Our Place where I have a lot of friends and staff that have my back. I go there six days a week and especially like art, going out to lunch, cooking, kickball and karaoke."
I see my parents a lot and am close to my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew and my uncles, aunts and cousins. I need support with getting to my activities, managing money and making appointments.
Since my surgery in 2022 I use a walker and a wheel chair and need help getting dressed, fixing meals, doing laundry and getting around.
I get financial support from the Home Based Waiver and SSDI.
